This event is remarkably, even stunningly irresponsible. Just giving animals away to any person who comes along? And they are representing themselves as advocates for these animals? No doubt, some of them found good homes, but I can guarantee you that many of them will be neglected, abandoned, or even abused. How do they think those animals ended up in their shelters to begin with? I've never even heard of such a thing. And the HSUS is sponsoring this? Appalling.

You should probably check the facts before getting all out of sorts here. These are the same groups and vetting that normally goes on every day at these shelters. It's just to publicize the need for pet adoptions and to try to make some space, they have this event (seems like it will be annually) where they get sponsors to kick in money so the fees are reduced or free. It's nothing like a Craigslist free to a good home ad.
