I will be relocating to Raleigh in the next couple of month with our 1st baby on board. I would like to know who are good OB/GYNs in the area, what hospital system is good, and as I will be a working Mom, suggested infant daycares in the area. My new job will have me working near the Raleigh airport area.

thanks!

I highly recommend the OB/GYN practice of Kamm, McKenzie, Harden, Smith, Bass, et al on Computer Drive. This is just south of the beltline, off Six Forks Road, near North Hills Shopping Center. They also have another office further north.

I have been going there since I was a teenager (!) and Dr Bass delivered both my children. He was great - and put us all at ease.

This practice uses WakeMed, which was great. You'll find that most practices use either Rex or WakeMed, but they chose - not you.

I know there have been other threads that answered a similar question, so you could do a search for more information.

Good luck!

I highly DO NOT recommend the previously mentioned practice. I used them once and was given dangerously inadequate care. Also they deliver at Wakemed. You will find that Rex has more favorable birth center reviews.

This site is a good resource: Triangle Birth Network

I recommend these practices:

Maternal and Child Health Program — Department of Family Medicine - UNC School of Medicine (http://www.med.unc.edu/fammed/for-patients/maternal-childcare - broken link)

UNC Midwifery Practice at Chapel Hill

I highly recommend Dr. Lane and Dr. Holton in Raleigh (2301 Rexwoods Dr # 114, Raleigh, NC). Dr. Holton delivered my last son. His enthusiasm and genuine love for what he does is unmatched. They are near Rex Hospital and deliver there. Rex is often referred to as the "Rex Carlton". Holton supports his patients in having the birth experience that they want. I was never been pressured into anything that I didn't want.

It used to be Holten and Inge but they went there own ways a year or so ago so he's with Lane now.

Jack Inge is also wonderful and he's with Mid Carolina now---recommendation below.

Congratulations!! I've delivered at Rex and Wake Med. I highly recommend Rex over Wake Med. The facilities and staff were much better at Rex. I'd also recommend any of the doctors at Mid Carolina OBGYN. Dr. Sarah Maddison and Dr. Tammi Stephens are smart, caring doctors. They're the best.

My wife used the midwife practice @ UNC Hospital. The delivery was fine, the nurses were mostly great, and when complications arose post-delivery there were ample, qualified specialists to get things under control. (Child #3, my wife's an OB, so we sorta know these things...)

I had both my children at what used to be Raleigh Community hospital on Wake Forest Rd at the 440 beltline. It was bought by Duke and so they renamed it Duke Raleigh Hospital. Great experiences with both. Induced on first, second one came fast. My obgyn is on Wake Forest Rd - Dr Mary Frances Moody at Associates for women's health. Thing I like best is that you are in on time and seen quickly without feeling like a number.

From what I understand, they no longer deliver at the old Raleigh Community.

We just got back from the wife delivering at Rex. Excellent experience there. My first was born at WakeMed, and I thought Rex was a much better experience (although, to be fair, my first was a while ago).
