I second this, you hit the nail on the head regarding Mac-Ur-Roni. It's "mac n cheese" because those are the ingredients, but it seems more like an afterthought. Pre-cooked macaroni with cheese and a topping dumped on it is not mac n cheese in my book.

Hits the nail on the head. They have a supply of pretty good Mac and cheese and they have a bunch of toppings. Never the twain shall meet until served to the customer.

It just vastly limits the flavor integration you get.

AMEN. Love it, in fact I mainly go there for the Mac and Cheese. The rest is just icing on the cake.

By far the best I've had in the area. Leaps and bounds! Totally agree.

I may be the only person that wasn't completely a huge fan of Poole's Mac & Cheese - the one time I had it, I could see why people liked it but I thought it was way too salty for my liking.

You're not the only one. There's another thread here about Pooles and people, inlcuding myself have complained about the level of salt. Totally ruined it for a group of us eating there one night n

One vote against the Mac and Cheese at Backyard BBQ. I found it to be oily and overcooked. I just didn't like it.
