That’s very good I was scrolling pretty fast by the time I got that far down.
OK, I see now. Amburn Pontiac moved out on Capital Blvd. I remember in the early 70’s. They were on Royal St. off Hillsborough St. before that. The incorporated date 1977 is a little confusing. The first photos of the Fayetteville St. area certainly aren’t 1977. Fayetteville St. as you see it was long gone by then.
My guess, is that it could’ve been some re-organization/re-naming or sale of the corporation in 1977. They didn’t make Grand-Am’s between the model years 76-77, and there are quite a few of them parked out front to be used in a new car dealers’ lot.

TBH, I think you may be right too. I looked at the cars, and I could not find anything that was VERIFIABLY after 1973. Even the several Corvettes I saw were all '68-'73 models (very distinctive difference from '74+)
Whatever the actual dates were, it was pretty cool to see all the pictures.
I moved from Pittsburgh to Charlotte in '77, and a couple years after college, moved to the Triangle in late '92.
Photo #12 Unidentified sewage waste plant. That’s the old Walnut Creek Solid Waste Treatment Plant on Sunnybrook Rd. Walnut Creek Softball Complex is now at that exact location.
By 1977, Fayetteville St was being torn up for the Mall, which opened later that year. If the Amburn Pontiac pics couldn't be before 1977, then they must have been taken at a different time from the downtown shots, as there is no sign of construction there yet.

Wasn't there also one way out north, past the water treatment plant? I remember going on a school field trip to both in 1972 ("Let's show these 3rd-graders what happens to their sh*t!" ). but maybe I am only thinking they were close to each other?
Here’s another very interesting link to some old Raleigh photos. They appear to range from the 50’s -early 80’s. Some show City Hall under construction and the absolute best shows the current Players Retreat building when it was empty retail space….it looks newly built.
