Is everyone else noticing huge amounts of acorns coming down from the Oaks? I thought a ton came down during Hurricane Matthew, but at least double the amount since then has fallen!!

Yeah they are start up, it was a light last year, shaping up to be a big one this year. The worst is squirrels they will gnaw a branch and drop it on the ground and clean up the nuts.

I've heard all kinds of reasons why acorn crops may vary from one year to another, including that one. Here's the one I like Some years Mother Nature makes a bumper so after the pigs, squirrels, deer, wild turkeys, possums and chipmonks get all they want there are still some left over for seeds

Yes....we have an aluminum sunroom roof with an oak tree nearby that's been pounding it with acorns 24/7. That tree has a date with a chainsaw if it doesn't stop raining acorns soon...the loud noise wakes us up during the nighttime hours.

I'll take the sound of raining acorns and raking leaves over not having my majestic white oak

LOL..... I feel your pain. I had 15 oaks in my yard. I removed 7 oaks this past summer, but the 8 remaining are raining acorns like crazy. Acorns hitting our skylights and deck sound like it is raining rocks..... The worst part is raking them out of the grass so I will not have hundreds of little oak seedlings coming up.

I noticed that this year seems there seems to be more acorns than ever before.

Any tips on the most efficient way to get these up? Raking seems to take forever.

Anyone tried something like the Nut Weasel to pick them up? Any recommendations on something that actually works?
