The homes are not selling as fast now though. We have an area of town that has historical old homes and on just one street in that area in two blocks there are 5 homes for sale and they have now been for sale for months. We have new homes going up like crazy in this area called River Park and they are even selling slow. I am a single parent and without that second income it is impossible for me to buy here, even a little condo is $300k and I just can't do it. My sister is going back to Raleigh in January to visit our friend who moved there a year ago. She can't wait to go. I told her to tell Jen to be aware that getting on the plane to go back there won't be a problem but coming back here Jen is going to have to push her on the plane - lol. She said she may not come back. I am just looking forward to the day when I too can follow your lead. Congrats to you.
Thanks justchar! it is too bad that you are stuck here for a little while longer im sure it is very difficult financially being a single parent out here, and making decisions becomes harder cause you need to think about more than just yourself... i know i would have a hard time, im having a hard time just feeding and making decisions for myself!! I wish you luck and hopefully you will be able to get somewhere better for yourself and your family soon! It seems Southern California was nice back when the weather and activities were enough to keep you here, but now the cons far outway the pros in my opinion, there are so many people around and so much traffic that you cant even enjoy the activities or the weather! too stressful! hopefully there will always be good areas we all can escape to and afford a better life!

It will probably be another 3-5 years before people start getting priced out. Ironicaly enough, the main reason for it will be so many people moving from other areas that have "priced them out" (NY/NJ, FL, CA for the most part).

Thanks socalkitti. Yes the cons defintely outweigh the pros. Crime is a big one in Oxnard, too many gangs, too many shootings, getting too close for comfort. There was a shooting hear last week and barely made the news - shooting in NC made the CNN news. I hope your move go smoothly. 4 weeks and counting for you - 2 years and counting for us.
