Hey all. I've been back in Durham 3 years now. I've been using a vet, that I won't name, with an office off Hwy 98 in the NE part of Durham. Their service is fine but VERY expensive. Recently I've been taking my dogs to the vet in Morehead City, when I'm home visiting family, and it's less than half the cost! While that can work for regular shots, etc I need a reliable local vet for emergencies and such. What's the catch? I also want a vet that is rescue friendly. I foster lots of dogs and my agency is based in Charlotte. My current vet flat refuses to give any break in price for the rescue dogs (not my own, just the rescue ones) even though I spend a lot of money with them annually on my own two dogs! I have all the papers to prove I foster these dogs through a registered non-profit. Anyone have a recommendation?
I currently take my dog to Colony Park - they're great. I find the prices very reasonable and great care as well.
We previously went to Southpoint, which is also very good but so popular it's sometimes impossible to get an appointment, even in an emergency. GREAT vets though. We had to switch when we couldn't get an appointment during an explosive gastro/parasite episode...
I know they do a lot of work with the Duke Lemur Center.
They are all pet owners & really great with animals.
I couldn't see taking our crew anywhere else!
