hello,

need advice, experience, concerning dog walking . My neighborhood, which is one street with a short

walkpath behind homes at the end of the street, and a short rd. leading to busy roads on both sides has quite a few dog owners. I am talking about Belmont of Cary-near Middle Creek High School. There are several women who are NOT dog fanciers. They run into the yard and monitor your dog walk and if it involves waste. Everyone that I see manages to not poo on anyones, yard, wallkway or road or if they poo a yard they pick it up.. Yet our HOA sends us letters very often saying to mind our dogs. One woman drove around putting her own home made cardboard sign up-keep off her property-it is very close to the neighborhood walkway. she said people were not nice concerning dog walking. one woman screamed when my dog peed because she thought he was pooing. this is creating a very hostile environment in a rather nosey neighborhood. my dog shakes when he poos. I think that if enough people dislike dogs they should make the neighborhood pet free and advise people that move there that dogs are monitored very closely . it is too late for that now for me and in general i drive away to walk my dog. the hoa is not helpful.

Clean up after your pet. Flip people the bird if they say anything. What else can you do?

This post probably belongs on Nextdoor.

Tell the lady with the cardboard sign that she probably doesn't even own the land the dogs are relieving themselves on. If people aren't cleaning up their dogs poop, then she has a legit beef, whether or not she actually owns the land.

Some neighborhoods are insane. Knock on wood it doesn't seem like I live in one.

I'd rather not have a dog pee in my yard. Ick. The urine isn't good for plants.

Am I'm going around with signs, no, but if I'm out in my yard and you are walking a dog down the street, I will ask you to keep the dog out of my yard.

Oh please! Unless you believe he can read the cardboard sign, or the notices you are receiving from the HOA, or is reacting to some lady staring at him while he poos.

If your dog is shaking when he poos, he needs a trip to the vet!!!

Funny, right now, I can tell where dogs (most likely dogs anyway) have peed on my front lawn over the winter, because it fertilizes it and turns it green faster in those areas. In a couple months it will start killing it for sure if the do it though.

If people don't want dogs going in their lawn and put up signs, respect it. Pick up your poop like a responsible owner and get on with your life.

Dog pee kills grass, leaves unsightly discolored areas. I put up the white iron NO dogs signs in my yard and that was one reason. Other reason is that I have elderly dog and I don't want her exposed to strange dog parasites in her own yard. Also, some dog messes don't pick up easily, if you get my point. I don't let my dog do anything in others yards, not even sniff around.

I try everything I can to get my dog to pee on the strip between the sidewalk and the road. Sometimes that just doesn't happen. But I don't really stress about it, because the town, who owns the land my dog pees on, likely doesn't care.

In all seriousness though, I totally get the annoyance with people not picking up solid matter, but a #1 here and there, who cares. Ironically it's probably the people with the worst lawns in the neighborhood that complain the most. If stuff like that is really that annoying to you, you should probably be living out on 5 acres somewhere.
