My husband and I are in South Florida and we are looking to relocate to this area. We have been doing extensive research online but we have decided to go up in july to see which area feels right. However, we only have 2 days so I want to make the most of it. I cannot figure out the communities! In Wake forest there seems to be a lot of new construction. Can anyone give some advice or recommendations? We would like an about an acre or more, 4 bedrooms, new construction, In a good school area, within driving distance to grocery/shops etc. Our budget is 650K-900K. we own a business and work from home so the commute is not an issue however we would like to be withing a reasonable Driving distance to Raleigh for dinner/entertainment/airport.

Are there any neighborhoods to go for or avoid? I have seen a few in my search, Camberry, Waterstone, Falls Reserve, The Enclave and the cove at falls lake. This is just in WF as i have not seen any large new homes in the cary/apex area but to be honest researching this stuff online is not returning very conclusive results.

I think your missing out on some of the BEST properties by limiting yourself to new construction. ESPECIALLY if you must have 1 acre or more.

First, define "reasonable distance" to Raleigh, and reasonable distance to the airport.

Second, why 1+ acre? Know that in some parts of North Raleigh, there's few if any new builds like that because of the Falls Lake watershed

Does the neighborhood need amenities, or you're looking for quiet/no rules?

Last, as others have noted - does it have to be NEW? I get the "for that price, I should get what I want" if that's your thinking (though for better or worse not 100% accurate). But definitely in that range, buy a home that is/was custom-built, not tract or even quasi-custom

New construction and at least an acre of land is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack here unless you go into the more rural neighboring counties.

I have looked in these areas online and opened up the search to ANY years and nothing was really returned that was updated in the 1+ acre and 4 bedroom category. that is the only reason why I said new. Does not have to be new but I don't want to spend a lot of money updating. Also a reasonable distance to me means about 30 min or less?

Have you previously owned an acre of land in an area with a good amount of grass and other vegetation?

What made you want acreage?

You're doing something wrong in your search.

I just did a search on realtor.com for North Raleigh ONLY, 4 bedroom, price range $600-900k, one acre or more lot. Returned 116 results even with this limited search area. I did not look at any photos to determine the upgrades.

You really should be dealing with a realtor if you're serious about buying.

You definitely need to line up a realtor before you get here.

A good realtor will find properties and neighborhoods that meet your needs and desires, and map out the best way to see as much as possible during your limited time. They'll be able to answer your questions as you come up with them.

Without a realtor who is familiar with the area, you're swinging blindly.

When we were looking at homes there were a few new construction neighborhoods by Drees that had 1-2 acre homesites. You might check with them to see if they have something you would be interested in.
