Thanks michgc. I found the history on these sandwiches pretty interesting. The Elena Ruz (cream cheese and strawberry jam with turkey) looks to be a staple of Cuban restaurants and originated in Havana.

I love the Elena Ruz sandwich story! I had never heard of it before. We go to Versailles every year, but I always order the same thing off the menu, so I hadn't even noticed the Elena Ruz sandwich, but I just looked at their menu online, and I see it. Dining Menu | Versailles

I saw the "coming soon" sign for Cuban Revolution on Franklin Street a few months back and have been meaning to go there. Maybe my husband will try the Cuban sandwich with salami!

We went to Havana this summer so we've been immersing ourselves in all things Cuba for the past few months, first in preparation for our trip and then after because we found the history so fascinating!
