I ran across an article in the News Observer (link below) about the new Cary Public Library, posted on Sept 21, 2016. The article says they are planning for a fall 2018 opening.

Does anyone know about the progress of the new library? Looks like a nice building from the drawings, and much larger than the current Cary library. The article mentions the new location as the corner of Walnut Street and Kildaire Farm Rd.

Good info. Thanks! Are they on track for a fall 2018 opening?

The project page says Spring 2019, and I'm not sure how firm that is. Bid period was supposed to be August-September, but I haven't seen any sign of them soliciting bids for it yet.

Big projects usually take longer than initially planned. Looks like it will be a great facility when it's done. Thanks again for the info.

Costs, labor shortages have delayed it for an unknown amount of time.

According to the Mayor in his recent State of the Town Address Cary Entering Transformative Period, Says Mayor in Annual Address – CaryCitizen

The popular Downtown Park is being evaluated for Phase Two of its development but the new library being built next to it is facing delays, Weinbrecht said, due to the level of local construction demand and rising costs.

“There is also a lot of private interest so you might see a public-private partnership on the library,” Weinbrecht said.

Will the parking deck be only for the library, or general parking?
