My family and I are visiting the area this weekend to start to get a feel for a possible move from NJ.
We have been in touch with a real estate agent for about a month and will spend one day with her looking at houses but after that we are free.
Most of the houses we are looking at are in Clayton.
We are staying at the Hampton Inn in Garner.
Our kids are 7 and 9 and we also have our in-laws meeting us from South Carolina to help watch the kids while we meet with real estate agent.
ALL THAT SAID... are there any festivals, events or general things to do? something that first time visitors should see or experience that conveys a lot of what your area is all about?
we already have a visit to downtown Clayton and Raleigh on our list, possibly a museum (but would rather do a park or something)
anyway, THANKS in advance for any advice or tips on our first visit to the area
I'd check out Pullen Park near downtown Raleigh. It has a train you can ride around the park, an antique carousel, playground, paddle board, aquatics center, among other things. If you have time, you can go to the NC zoo. It is about an hour from Raleigh though.
Go to WRAL's website and look at the out and about section for this weekend. Usually has lots of options. Based on your kids' ages I would also consider the museum of life and science in Durham.
If your family is into sports, the University of North Carolina plays their rival Duke in football this weekend in Chapel Hill (45 minutes or so from your hotel)
Ray Price Capital City Bikefest (as in motorcycle). Downtown Raleigh, 9/22-24.
Yeah, this is really cool. There are food & bike gear vendors, stunt shows, juried bike show, bands on three stages, etc. And if course, a boat load of bikes.
