Residential property values within an easy commute of RTP just went up. Well, not immediately, but they will. This is a big win for RTP after 10+ years of zealots for downtown Raleigh and downtown Durham preaching that RTP was dead.

RTP is pretty much full with this new Apple campus. There are still plots of land near RTP . As far as driving up housing that might happen but it's already underway. And 3000 jobs is very nice but we have over 2 million people now and still growing fast Apple bought the land a couple years back under a different name. They probably waited to see how much tax money they were getting

It's certainly a shot in the arm. Though, while companies like Apple will tend to prefer a large campus, I can still see smaller ones gravitating to more downtown-like areas with amenities nearby so they don't have to provide them. I I'm still think RTP will have to continue on a path of of evolving to stay relevant going forward.

When can I sell my house for a crapload of money?

I can't buy another though.

That aside, this is really exciting for the area, along with the Google news. Happy for all of the tech folks and local students!

"Acute Investments LLC."
Fitting name. It was a great investment for Apple a couple of years ago.
Right across the pond from Cisco.

$1 billion campus. $958 million in incentives over 39 years. Let the groaning commence!

WRAL may have the wrong scoop with "3000 jobs at a minimum of $187,000?" For real??

TBJ says $187,000 is average. Much different story, that.
"Apple is planning to pay average annual wages of at least $187,000 starting in 2023. And, eventually, the firm’s RTP operation will span 1 million square feet, officials said. The plan is to invest $1 billion over 10 years."

Will be interesting to see what qualifies as “easy†come 2023.

Yes, he spent over a decade at IBM and got his MBA from Duke during that time. COO Jeff Williams is also an NC native and NC State grad. And services chief Eddy Cue is a Duke grad.

Senior leadership knows the area very well.

Williams, who grew up in north Raleigh and went to Sanderson, has his undergraduate in Mech. Eng. from State. Cue, who is from Miami, has his undergrad degree from Duke. Cook, from Alabama, has undergraduate degree from Auburn. Williams and Cook have their MBAs from Duke.
