I was asked by a young tech professional, who is thinking of relocating to the area, where other young professionals hangout...certain bars, restaurants, fun events etc... Any feedback is greatly appreciated! ( in the RTP area )

My daughter and her friends chose to live downtown by Glenwood South. Most of her apartment complex (The Link at Glenwood South) were young professionals. It was within walking distance to the restaurants and bars on Glenwood South that many of them like to go to.

The responses above are exactly where the young professional crowd are concentrated. Lots of great bars and restaurants in those areas.

For Raleigh, also add Lynnwood Brewing Concern on Whitaker Mill at Atlantic, Trophy on Maywood, Trophy on Morgan, and Person St next to Oakwood neighborhood.

For Durham, the Geer St area (Fullsteam, Motorco, etc.) is super popular. Ponysaurus Brewery gets a lot of young professionals. In the main part of downtown, the area around Criterion/Mateo.

Downtown Cary is surprisingly packed with young professionals most nights at Bond Brothers Brewery. There's also nearby Sidebar, Pro's Epicurean, Pharmacy, etc. So many young professionals live close to RTP for convenience, and don't always want to drive all the way into the bigger downtowns to socialize with friends.

That covers bars/breweries/restaurant areas pretty well. As far as fun events:

Hopscotch Music Festival (early Sept in Raleigh)
Moogfest (spring music fest in Durham)
Kirby Derby (summer in Raleigh. Was at Dix park last year. Really fun day)
Groove in the Garden (at the Rose Garden in Raleigh, fun day of music. Moving to October this year)

My nephew lives in Raleigh but he also hangs out at Bond Brothers in Cary. My daughter also now wants to go to Boxcar Arcade in Raleigh since seeing his instagram that he was there....doesn't seem to get he's 10 years older than her LOL.
