Holy sump pumps! It really came down up in Wake Forest here
tonight. A nice heavy deluge and I use that term heavily!
I'm glad my gutters are 4 inches deep I'm afraid if they were
the 3 inch garden variety my gutterith would hath runith overith!

But I will tell you it is really great to see some rain every week
now. Hopefully the weather pattern we were in the past years
has maybe broken or at least showing some signs of cracks.
Either diagnoses is a good thing!

As I passed by the Falls Dam yesterday and today via Fall of Neuse
it was great to see ALL the people using the river again. People
were kayaking and cannoe-ing. Fisherman were on shore and wadding,
dogs were taking a dip and fetching a thrown stick or two. I have not
seen that this past year in the quantities that were there the past
two days.

It was just a short time ago we were under restrictions of 2, 2 1/2,
maybe going to 3. Water was going to run out in weeks, months,
or sometime sooner rather than later. But for now it rains and
hopefully continues a bit each week to keep our reservoirs full and
our streams and rivers flowing so all can enjoy the great NC outdoors!

...and that's all I got to write about that....

Absolute downpout tonight. I made a point of using up all the water in my rain barrel this past week to make room for more water. My rain barrel was overflowing about 15 minutes into the downpour! I may need to redo the overflow on it as it clearly could not keep up with this heavy rain. Thanfully my yard is set up in such a way that even though the rain barrel overflows, the water still runs aways from my foundation.

Looks like we are in for more rain tomorrow. It is a good thing too. We need every drop we can get now as we move towards the warmer summer months. While we can only hold so much in falls lake, this repeated rain will help to recharge the groundwater which is still very badly needed.

We had a frog-strangler last night, early. So n-i-i-i-c-e to be getting the rain. My yard seems to be slowly coming back around. I wish I had had the $ to pull up about 3/4 of the lawn, and replace it with nice beds of azaleas and other plants, indigenous to NC. The rain would've helped get the plants started.

Rain again today, and the weather has cooled off nicely again. I am SO NOT looking forward to another hot summer.

Sweep out those puddles and drain the thoughts of rain last night.
Rain, Rain, Rain today is the news, this AM driving in and maybe PM
driving out. (Important point: in does not always preceed out.)
Wet streets, roads, bogs and eddy's even.
WOW to be a frog or a duck or an otter even.

Those rain barrels are full, over full, and in some cases for
those North Easterners visions of the great Niagara Falls flowing
to Lake Ontario and out to the Atlantic! OK maybe I'm a bit
carried away as it is just Falls Lake through a pipe and out into the
Neuse river and then onto the Atlantic Ocean. I knew a common
ocean would be found somewhere in there.

So back to rain today. How sweet it is! Sun tomorrow will
be peaking out or in to dry out those soaked lawns and gardens.
But for today ENJOY the rains as visions of the tropical
rain forest come to the triangle! May your umbrella open
precipitously and your rain suits leak ever so lightly!

Looks like the rain has ended one may even say subsided.
Tomorrow sunny and breezy high mid 60's.
All that rain will be able to run and filter into the under ground
water dispersion system to replenish and rejuvenate.
Kind of like we do when we take a vacation or get a
round of golf in, OK maybe two rounds but you get the message.

If one is quiet enough one can almost hear the grass grow or at least
hear the neighbors lawn mower go. Brings to mind a simple yet prov en
formula. Rain + Sun = Work. Enjoy all!

April 29...where has the month gone? I suppose it
has gone to the grocery store, gas station, post office (it
was tax month....Grrrrrr), department store or two, Dr's office,
work, school, Dentist, Gym, Bulk store (BJ/SAM's/Costco..etc..etc..etc),
...WOW we now have 1 1/2 days left this month for the fun part....

What to do, where to go, will we have time, the triangle is large,
so much to see and so little time.

Fret not! Its sunny and we are getting an extra minute or two each
day of extra daylight or I'd rather say sunshine! So yes it is brisk today
and I'm not meaning ice tea brisk but it is sunny so get out and
explore the triangle to see what you can see as far as you can see
even if its on the sea! Of coarse with your feet or foot power will be
the lowest cost way to see it! May the multi-speed bike be with you!!!
