Sad but probably true. It seems pretty clear that WCPSS at least has no intentions of anyone going back in October - not sure about other districts. If anything special ed, but that seems pretty unlikely too.
I don't think Chapel Hill schools will open before January or even this school year. In an email this week from the interim superintendent, he said one of the factors that affects going back to school "is the the willingness of our staff to return to the classroom" and that the district is "prepared to learn remotely at least through the end of the first semester."
To be perfectly honest though, I'm already burnt out from managing all this from home. I woke up this morning, and before I even opened my eyes, I felt a wave of dread about starting the week tomorrow. Each of my kids has had a teacher take a 12 week leave already for "personal reasons," one of whom said she just couldn't manage to teach school and help her own kids with school. It'll be interesting to see how all this plays out.
On the upside, I was so happy to finally be able to go the Museum of Art today with my daughter, and I've had the best time taking my son to his favorite playgrounds since they reopened. The staff at the museum seemed genuinely happy to be there and see people.

In Wake, the willingness of staff should be a non factor, as they supposedly had it all figured out which staff would be doing Virtual Academy, and which would be onsite doing plan B. In Wake the plan all along was to have Plan B with a 3 week rotation, but then they yanked that last minute to only include special ed, and then yanked THAT to everyone remote. Nothing has changed in the last couple months, and numbers are getting better, so I see no reason why they can’t go back to Plan B.
Now we have board members saying we can’t open because of staffing issues which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Not going to play the politics card just yet, but I will if this goes on through November.

Another education system already came out saying they were specifically waiting until after the election. Odd they would put it that way, instead of just saying not until November.

Shrug. With Covid I look at data and statistics and base my opinions on that. Wish I could say the same for you.
You show me data that shows students (50% of student population in Wake) shouldn't go back to school in Plan B (three week rotation), and I'll be happy to look at it. I haven't seen any.
I'm surprised at the silence over your new friend's status line. Kinda sad, no? When you're silent like that it makes people think you're in agreement.

Is that directed at me? If so I have no clue what you're talking about.
