The masks should have come off in April '21 after the teachers/staff had the chance to be fully-vaxxed. They chose to be extra cautious and let the school year run out.

they "got to keep" masks this fall because of the Delta scare, which was still rising as the school year started. But they should have come off by mid-October (basically back down to nearly non-existent June levels). And when cases had already tripled from Omicron and it was indeed milder before they went back in January, they could have readily acknowledged that all those teachers had the winter break to get their boosters.

When they relaxed mask rules re: restaurants etal and didn't see any rise in Covid, that was a clear signal to a person of reasonable logic and intelligence that guess what - we weren't spreading Covid in public that much.

But they spent 2 years consumed by Covidporn, and chasing "Zero Covid". They can proclaim victory, and if that smug self-satisfaction helps, go for it. The reality is wherever masks were still required in schools lost at least a year ago.
They offered HS in rotating co-horts of 3. We had signed up for VA and it was not worth it to try to change at that point - with spring break it ended up being about 20 days that they were in school.

I agree about the vaccines. Especially for high school level teachers. The amount of fear some people have is absolutely astounding. Even DD, who was pretty sick for a week, is like "I can't believe what's gone on over this".

I have the 'Rona now. THe dominoes have fallen.

I do now recall counting, and it was 18 days in-person in '20-'21.

I see that there won't be a public comment period, but 60 lucky folks will be in attendance.

On what planet is this acceptable?

To quote the flight director in Apollo 13: "is this a government operation or what?"

Does anyone have any insight into what is going on with Morrisville in terms of a decision on their mask mandate? All the other municipalities in Wake County are ending it, so it seems weird that they wouldnt. But then Durham and Orange have basically said let's wait and see, so who knows. But at least they made a decision. Morrisville has been radio silence since last week, saying they're still deciding. I would just like a statement of intent from them, but the news seems to have forgotten about them to focus on school boards.

I literally do nothing in Morrisville except go to the gym, and I would personally love masks to be optional there.

I would switch gyms - if Morrisville is lagging this much, they're sure to keep flip-flopping.
