I could use a 1950's housewife. Though I only want one as portrayed on tv and not the real-life version drinking from the loneliness of being at home all day with cranky kids. And, please, no jello-mayo salads.
Between $1 and $5,000. Thats like asking how much a car costs.
If electric, sometimes the wiring can be moved or extended. Least cost if a simple range outlet to plug into. New circuit needed if old one is 3 wire or if new range takes more power. More costly if it is to be mounted into cabinet and hardwired. Range hoods vary from a simple blowback to room to vented through wall or roof. Many people now use a combo hood & microwave. A simple hood can be fed from any lighting circuit nearby. A microwave combo needs a dedicated circuit. Sometimes this means cutting ceiling to route new wire. Sometimes not, if attic space above.
If moving something like a JennAire downdraft unit, the crawlspace ducting has to be moved also. This is a big job in itself. Some electricians will do simple ductwork, other times an HVAC tech is needed.
If electric, 200-300 might cover the simplest jobs, on up to the 5,000 or more for complicated ones. No idea about gas. Always check with gas company or propane company. Let them do the work or whoever they recommend. I was asked to move gas lines a few times. I refused. I know nothing about gas and wouldn't try doing it.
I ended finding a house with a cooktop, not on an island. That’s one cost that I don’t have to worry about now. Thanks for the replies
