UNC accomodation (Chapel Hill: for sale, sublets, apartments)

I am a Fulbright scholar from Pakistan and going to join UNC, Chapel Hill in Fall 2008 for Ph.D in Mass Communication. Need help for affordable housing. Input from any of you out there will be much appreciated.........

Have you tried speaking with someone in your department?

What are you looking for--how many bedrooms, do you need in-unit laundry, how much do you want to spend? Would you consider having a roommate?

I would first try craigslist--not sure if I can post the link or not, but hopefully the mods will allow: craigslist: raleigh / durham / CH classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events (if the link gets cut and you're not familiar with craigslist, google "raleigh craigslist" There are lots of apartments listed there, and sublets, and even some house-sits.

There are a lot of houses for rent around UNC as well. I'd suggest coming down a few weeks before classes start and just checking out places and mingling w/ people. Maybe you can talk w/ the South Asian group on campus. SANGAM. Sangam - Home
