Rain is different on the East Coast, on the West Coast it mists.

Over here, it can mist and be heavier all the way to a bucket of water being poured over your head at once.

More sunshine, humidity, etc.

If you could live in a town where everyone furnishes their homes from Walmart, then consider Louisburg, 25 miles to the northeast.

Wake Co. schools are much better, but US401 is being 4-laned which will reduce travel time to Raleigh to 20-23 minutes.

All of what you're wanting you should be able to find here in the Triangle, although some 30-mile commutes into the area are easier than others. For example, if you decide on Clayton in Johnston County and work mainly in Morrisville or Research Triangle or the airport, your commute could get close to an hour depending on traffic and accidents along I-40.

Also, communities 30 miles or so from the Triangle tend to be more conservative, so you should have no problems in that regard. And you'll be fine working in the Triangle as well, as long as you avoid proselytizing on the job. Some people frown on that.

Best not to talk about religion or politics at work, at least until you know your coworkers' orientation. Maybe not even then.

Given today’s environment of cancel culture and manufactured outrage, I’d say that’s wise.

My daddy always told me not to discuss politics, religion or money as it just wasn't polite!

Today, so many people want to discuss and argue. Avoid those topics, along with "Where I'm from, we did this"!!!

If you want friendly, my suggestion is a newer neighborhood, with community pool. It will be easier to meet your new friends that way! Older neighborhoods could be a bit more difficult as everyone already has their "tribe"!
