Oy, yes. I flew out of Tampa on June 8, and the bag line for Southwest was unbearable.

I've made 6 trips back/forth from RDU to FL since Jan 2020. COVID travel was awesome -- no lines anywhere! Even with the chaos at the baggage counter, the general security queue for the Southwest terminal was less than 5 minutes. My flight was at 11:15am; I arrived curbside at 10:15am, dallied at the baggage counter, zipped through security, bought a soda, and went right to boarding.

Unless RDU starts reporting significant increases in traffic throughput, I'd still plan on about 45 mins' lead time. That's the SW terminal -- I'm sure the other side is busier.

Am I the only one who wishes there was a webcam or counter of some sort (maybe like the Planet Fitness crowd meter) to give you a crowd status before you jump out of the car (or even hang out in pre-security)?

Sounds like a security problem.

There is an app actually that’s fairly accurate and gives approximate wait time at each security gate for each airport. I’ll try to find it tomorrow.

Used Pre-Check at RDU last week for my Delta flight on a Wednesday morning at around 7:30 AM. There were two people in line ahead of me and I was through the line in less than five minutes. Very easy.

I just took my son this morning for a 6:15am flight on SW. Pre-check was really fast but it took about 35 minutes to check his bag. The line was huge but went quickly. I dropped him 90 minutes before his flight.

I know that end of March/beginning of April, there were no "curb agents" at RDU. I'm a "once/twice a year traveler" so I can't say whether the Covid rules have been eased since or not

Since this thread is active, what is the taxi situation since RDU Taxi went out of business. Next week I land at 11:30 pm. Are taxis still waiting at the arrival area?
