*uck me, just no. This is how s*it starts.... look at Florida and their python problem. People are so stupid, they think s*it like this is a pet. What I do not understand is how the government allows these species even get into the country. This is the sure way to kill your own native population of wildlife. I hate snakes but freaking copperheads and water moccasins need to be protected from these invasive species. You pay fines if you bring a traditional cured ham from Spain (or any amount of meat product from anywhere), but like, you have a cobra or a Komodo dragon in your luggage? Welcome home, sir!

North Carolina state law says it’s not illegal to be in possession of venomous snakes if the owner keeps the reptile in an escape-proof enclosure.
-- This blows my mind too. This gotta go. But, I assume there is an "exotic animal" lobby somewhere that keeps giving to the politicians.
There needs to be an escape plan and anti venom somewhere local. Ok I’m sure someone dumb enough to have this as a “pet” went through all these steps. (What is an escape plan, anyway?). No word yet on whether there is anti venom around here.
I’m just waiting for someone to post a pic on Nextdoor “is this a copperhead?”

I'm here for you!
After posting Hamilton the Pig in a wagon with the question, this seems like a great follow-up!

Now that's just funny, is what that is. And it will be even funnier when it actually happens.
OK I can’t access your next door so I need pics, haha.
