I have not heard good experiences about buying from Carvana as of late. They started off as a decent option but I think as they've tried to scale up, the customer service has sort of declined as of late.

I expect they have the same inventory pinch as any other outlet.

I never got the attraction. Their prices were super inflated long before it could be blamed on shortages caused by Covid. Same with CarMax.
I have purchased from Carl Anderson at Fred Anderson Toyota several times over the past 20+ years. I trust him completely. He has repeat customers because he doesn't play games.

People hate dealing with dealerships and the whole process of buying a car there and want something simple that can be done mostly online. That's the attraction.

I get that aspect as a shy introvert myself. However, I bought two cars in the last three years and the majority of the actual haggling was done through email and I only went to the dealership to sign the papers. Either way, I’d be inclined to tolerate some hassle to save from a 5-15% markup on a car.
Can you wait?? The current markups on new (if you can find them) and used cars is extreme right now. It should sort itself out in six months or a year when the chip shortage dissipates.
All the manufacturers have a huge inventory of '21s sitting at racetracks and closed malls around the country waiting for these chips. When they finally catch up, there will be lots of sales incentives.
Excellent perspective, although as an electrical engineer I expect we are looking at 18-24 months for the supply chains to return to 2018-19 norms.
