I downloaded a map of the RDU flight path (where did that thing go?) and I recall seeing Morrisville being in the path of plane noise. Also I got a personal note about that Western area being problematic, noise-wise.
The reason why we never looked at any properties in Preston.....basically any property outside the NW portion of Cary Parkway.

Lived here in Preston 28 years.
Flight paths alternate, between borth and south of airport.
Quality double-pane windows upgrade reduced much of all noise!
From one picky person to another, no one is going to find anything you like and this exercise is a waste of time haha! That style of home is not common here like some other areas. We have tons of beautiful neighborhoods that are manicured and upscale, but the large single story is a bit of a unicorn. Hope you can visit soon to look around, good luck!
Yes, you do have many beautiful neighborhoods, including those which are so pretty one might think they had died and gone to heaven; places where one can walk in one's own neighborhood and feel like they are in a park. That's what we both seek.
None of the areas of interest so far lie in the flight path, not even the green area.
RDU noise should not be an issue at all, though backing up to a noisy street would be, at least outside.
The air traffic noise contours are only indicators of routine air traffic noise levels in those areas and air traffic noise certainly is common outside those areas.
Generally, a seller or agent will use the map to decide whether to disclose air traffic noise for a property.

Thank you for your good wishes!
