Hello all -

First time poster here. Been monitoring the forums for awhile now. My family and I are moving to 12 Oaks in the Spring. We are coming from Long Island, NY. I am interested in feedback on doctors and/or practices in the area. My wife and I are 33, we have a 18 month old son, and my wife will be about 5-6 months pregnant by the time we arrive in NC. We are all on the same Aetna insurance plan.

I know there are many hospital systems and affiliated practices in the area. Looking for some recommendations based on the pregnancy factor first and foremost. I am thinking we try to stay within the same system/practice for our primary doctor, pediatrics, OBGYN. But open to suggestions and looking for recommendations based on personal experience.

Feedback is much appreciated!

Find out which system is in-network for YOUR plan before you make any decisions.

(In our area, it's not uncommon for UNC to be in network, but Duke is out of network. And visa-versa.)

Welcome to the Triangle.

My wife delivered 3 out of our 4 kids with Mid-Carolina OB/GYN over by Rex Hospital.

I believe the specific doctor she used has moved on to another job, but she loved everyone at that practice.

There is also Wake Med. All three tend to use different insurance companies, eg
Duke - Ambetter
Rex/UNC - BlueCross
Wake - United

If you have to buy on HealthCare.gov, Bright Care and Aetna are also choices. Be careful going by what they say for covered doctors and drugs. My account is now showing that BlueCross is not accepted at Rex/UNC, but unless something changed in the last couple of weeks, that is incorrect.

For what it's worth, I have United and have gotten in-network coverage at Duke, Rex, and WakeMed. Granted this is probably a function of my great coverage/plan through my employer.

Dr Gunter (https://findadoc.unchealthcare.org/n...ent-ferry-road) recently moved to Holly Springs and delivers at the new hospital that just opened last month. He's fantastic.
Both UNC and Duke have great pediatric options in Holly Springs too. We go to UNC Family Medicine for Peds but we are fairly frequent visitors to Duke Urgent Care. My primary is through Duke Primary Care in Holly Springs.
