1) Quit your job
2) Become an “influencer” and post on TikTok.
3) Drink from morning until bedtime. I can’t drink until noon myself.
1. Don't have a job.
2. Not motivated to join TikTok and become an "influencer".
3. Gave up alcohol 7 years ago after 50 years of drinking. (but I could do it from morning until bedtime)
Guess it's the same old story.... I'm only partially qualified.
I’m curious. If anyone parks outside, you have to worry about cars stolen and windows smashed. Does anyone leave their doors unlocked or windows open? I suppose it would depend on how easy it is to remote start your vehicle?
Never really understand why people would want to confront a thief. These people are professionals and could be dangerous. Going on the offense to stop a car thief is simply not worth it. In most cases, even with a gun, you will end up getting the worst of it. I do understand the personal violation but anyone thinks a weapon is the first form of self defense is an idiot. The first thing to do is to remove yourself from the situation rather than inject…. Too many movies and myths about heroism. Do I own a weapon? Yes, and a Vet. I ain’t chasing or playing cop to stop a thief unless their actions cause it. Firing a gun in a public area most times will cause retaliation from them or could accidentally kill an innocent by stander.

Wellll... We ARE an automobile-crazed society. That elicits some pretty strange choices by some folks.

I certainly understand your points, and they are all valid, but it's much harder to take the emotion out of the moment as you see your prime means of transportation being molested and possibly driven away.
15 years ago I watched as a crazy driver pulled out of a side street, through a red light, in front of a woman driving a small car. She swerved into oncoming traffic and smashed into a car coming the opposite direction. Luckily (as I found out later) they both slowed enough so it was injury free, but not damage free. I was the car behind her and noticed the clown that pulled out without looking was accelerating down the street. I, instinctively, followed. About a mile later I trapped the perp on one way street he turned into trying to get away from the accident. AT that point, I thought, what an idiot for following him. Like a dog chasing a car, I had no idea what to do with him once I caught him. Luckily he was upset about what he'd done and came back quietly ( I think me being a foot taller and probably 100 lbs heavier than him may have factored into it, but if he'd had a gun, it just would have made me a bigger target).
Stupid move on my part, but it was an in-the-heat of the moment decision. Cop explained that to me later, as he back handedly thanked me for returning the fool to the scene of his "work".

So what are the circumstances that allow you to use your gun?

Oftentimes a simple "HEY! Get out of my car!" will cause them to run.
If it were my car I'd hit the panic alarm from the house then let my dog out to scare the guy.
Because most of these guys don't want confrontation. They want a quick score to buy their next fix.
I can't fathom when a car is worth a life. Even if the person in the car didn't run, and stole the car, is that car worth killing him? Just call the police, and let the police and insurance take care of the rest. Maybe I'm an artifact from a bygone era - I don't know.
I’m with you. If there’s no threat to a person or a dog (cats are on their own), it’s all just replaceable stuff.
