My husband and I are looking to move to North or South Carolina. We love the warm weather and would like to be near the water, however, would like to stay away from areas that get flooded during hurricanes. Other wants: low crime, houses from $250K-320K, small, friendly town feel and maybe 0.25-2 acres of land. We were looking at Summerville but then we heard that crime has increased there. Then I looked at New Bern but am worried about flooding. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated !

You might like Greenville, SC, although it is not near the ocean. There are some beautiful lakes. Thee are still houses in your price range although maybe not for long, LOL! You can head over to he Greenville/Spartanburg forum if you are curious.
