There is some kind of Durham Symphony group that meets on Tuesday nights at the Durham Arts Council downstairs; I don't know the exact name of it, but they definitely have strings! Ah wait, here it is--the Durham Symphony Check the Durham Arts Council, through whom most Durham groups are somehow affiliated: 560-2787.

I ran across your post as I was searching for similar opportunities to start playing more regularly myself. I realize it's been quite a while since your post - but did you ever connect with any of the groups from links people suggested - like the Chapel Hill Philharmonia?

Elisabeth, if you're interested in the Really Terrible Orchestra of the Triangle, they're having their winter concert tomorrow (Wednesday) at Duke.
