Need to decide which one the use. In the past I remember Lennox is a good brand. But recently I heard lots of bad reviews. But Rheem seems to also easy to have issues. Anyone can give some advice on which one need less repair and maintenance down the road?
Some article online says Rheem has more chance for leaking - is that also due to the poor installation? Or, if with the same installation, is there any difference on the brand? Sorry I really have no idea how to compare different brands. Thanks again!
tldr: look into inverter systems with variable pump and blower speeds if you're getting a new HVAC.
I checked into Lennox because of the Costco connection, but read a lot of horror stories about longevity and getting them serviced. I have no Rheem research. You want to look for something with a 16 SEER and at the end of the year, I think thats going to be the minimum required by code.
My research brought me to Diakin FIT which is an inverter system that can be in an air handler configuration (vs a mini-split). They can have a base SEER of 18 but that changes when matched up with certain air handlers or split systems. They have variable speed compressors that can pump out over 100f heat and have modes for removing humidity while being super quiet. 12yr parts warranty and the biggest complaint is the condensers have a low failure rate, but the techs hate working on them because they're more complex. If the outside unit (compressor/condenser) fails, they'll replace the entire unit. They also own Goodman if you're looking for economical single stage with a ECM fan in the air handler. Not the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive. I had a variable ECM blower Goodman from 2010 in the last house that had a random air circulation mode that was the best feature I've ever seen in a heat pump system. It was really good on electric consumption too. Daikin is the world's largest HVAC manufacturer.
so not to hijack your thread, anyone here has experience with a Daikin installer, I'd like to hear about it.
You're in luck. The most credible source for this kind of information, Consumers Reports magazine, just last month did an article "Most Reliable Central Air Conditioning Systems" www.consumerreports.org
(Their list of reliability of the most common systems, and their list of costumer satisfaction, both have Lennox slightly better than Rheem.)

Here's a working link to the ratings.
Of course, gotta be a CR member, I believe, to read the ratings.
