Which again, Not In Tournament rings true.

I'm sure there's some schools out there that do appreciate the opportunity and use it as a springboard to get better for next season but if you're a big boy school like a Clemson or whoever, the aspirations in most years are higher than playing in a tournament that most won't care about.

Or once you get below the top handful of teams, college basketball is so mediocre these days that any team is regularly beatable by any other team in the top 200.

It boils down to they weren't as good as advertised riding reputation. Going to the NIT and losing in the first round as two #1, one #2 and two #4 seeds did on Day One would have been way worse fallout than this. Not exactly a "win" however.
