Well of course there are different pricing tiers of restaurants, but you can certainly buy a decent breakfast for four at a Waffle House for way less than $80, and it's much better food than Mickey D's.

Ok fair enough. I consider waffle house fast food with a waiter, but yes you're right. But again, that's no different than it was before this bout of inflation in comparison to something like mcdonalds.

One can go to Applebee's or Chili's for not much more than fast food and even find something fairly healthy.

A cheeseburger with fries and a non alcoholic drink is 12.99 + tax + tip at Applebees.

A quarter pounder meal at Mickey d’s is 9.19 + tax.

That’s a significant difference especially if you’ve got several people to feed.

Choices and feeling better about what you're eating. The point being also the price differential has narrowed considerably which is why some fast food chains are struggling more.

I personally feel no better eating Applebees than McDonald’s. I actually feel better about eating at McDonalds because I know exactly what I’m getting versus a real restaurant where it depends on the cook, who’s plating, etc. I also tend to drink beer when it’s available, which packs on the empty calories.Obviously if I get a plate of broccoli at Applebees versus a Double QPC at McDonald’s I’m better off nutritionally at Applebees, but I’m comparing apples to apples. You could get a plate of cucumbers at McDonald’s if you really wanted to.

I don’t think the price differential has narrowed but I don’t have any way to prove that. If you have proof of it doing so, let us know.

Not "proof", but many people are noticing the slimming of the difference. Prices for fast food have increased much more than sit downs since the pandemic. Makes sense, most ff have had to increase wages dramatically.

That was written in 2021 - much has changed since. As we all know the restaurant industry as a whole has been hit hard by staffing issues and “wage increases”.

Applebee's is using real beef while McDonald's has admitted to a proprietary blend of god knows what, so in reality you don't know exactly what you're getting.

When the Arby's at 54 & 55 opened (late 80s or early 90s), there was a lot less traffic congestion at that intersection. Most of their business was at lunch M-F for people working in and around RTP. Getting out of the parking lot or the drive-through at lunchtime just got worse and worse. Meanwhile another Arby's opened just a few miles away on the east side of RTP.
