I lived for a good number of years in metro D.C. where red light cameras (and speed cameras) are common. Was not a fan when I lived there but......
.......driving around the RTP it is not unusual to see a motorist go through red........sometimes 3-4 seconds after the light turned red. Having driven in many parts of the US and other countries, this area is by far the worst.
I'm thinking that the increased risk of being rear ended is much better than being T-boned.
So, what do I do. I wait 2-3 second after my light turns green before proceeding. In that time I look carefully to make sure a motorist isn't going to fly through red. Don't honk at me......I'm not looking at my mobile device.........
We currently live in a perfect storm of motoring dangers.
Drivers on mobile devices.
Drunk drivers.
Motorists high on whatever.
Vehicles with screens vs intelligently laid out physical controls.
Safety is not worth turning our Constitutional rights over to a corporation that is in league with the local government. Absolutely not. Slippery slope.
