You might want to contact the SRO (school resource officer) that is stationed at Granville Central. The Sheriff's Department is the one that supplies the SRO for that school and J.F. Webb in Oxford. South Granville High has an SRO that is a Creedmoor officer. Gangs are everywhere, maybe not as noticeable in Granville Co as in Durham but they are there. I used to work in Probation there a few years back and the Bloods were starting to make their presence known and there have always been neighborhood groups that stick together. Granville County is a wonderful place to live.

We live in Southern Granville County. Have done for 10 years. I am sure we have gangs just like any other area. Are they on the corners or well known...not to my knowledge. It would be big news if we had a real gang problem that was to make people think twice about the area. News travels fast round here.

As for north of here into Oxford, I am not too familar with heavy gang problems there either. That area of town tho seems to have more robberies than anything else. Are they gang related? maybe. But it hasn't made the headlines enough to scare us off. And plus we are south and crime here is rogue raccoon chases lady into her house. Very low in other words.

Creedmoor is a real nice area. The town itself is working on bringing more and more businesses to the area since so many more people are discovering it.
Personally I think Oxford will always be behind. As it is just that tad further north away from Raleigh, and not close enough to Durham to ever really take off.

Anyhoo, I would call and speak to some higher ups and get the scoop and ask questions.

Let us know what they say if you do please.

I wasn't trying to be negative.. I think Granville County is a wonderful place to live. Laid back and a bit slower than RDU. I just wanted to state that there are gangs/problems everywhere you live. The gang/crime problem exists but not to the level it does in other areas. I would definitely contact the local Sheriff Dept or Police Dept for more information.
