I am wondering if any of you know if there is any possible way to achieve the goal of getting carpet and vinyl flooring for $13/square yard installed? This is what my builder allowance is. To be honest, I wish the floors were already completed on this new construction, but this is our situation.
I live in NH and have checked out both Home Depot and independent flooring companies and although I found Home Depot to be significantly less expensive, it is still not quite possible to get even cheap carpet for this price. We will need to use an independent flooring company out of NC for this home if we finish with the purchase, so I am not hopeful.
Does anyone have any info on this?
Thanks

Why not use all vinyl? Cheap carpet is not a good idea since it won't last.

All vinyl is easy to clean and great for those with allergies. Some vinyls look like wood.

On the right day, with the right sale, I can get builder's quality carpeting (not the lowest grade, but not nice either) for about $1.40/sf at the retailer. Pad adds 10-25 cents, installation about 50 cents per sq. foot. Go ahead and pay the extra $$ and get the quality and type you want, unless you know someone who will give you wholesale prices.
