I went there today and it seems like 2 or 3 more stores have closed in the last month. The place is starting to look like people want out...and Whitehall is going out as well. Is this mall having problems?
We go there all the time. Whitehall is just closing everywhere. Most of the regular stores at the Cary mall seem to be doing fine. What else did you notice closing? I haven't noticed much of anything different there. A bunch of stores have closed their original storefronts but are/have moved elsewhere in the mall.
Actually, I love this mall. I have never seen one like it, having recently moved. And it is because there is no one there. I have gone many many times and there is no one there. I think it is great!
It is basically empty! The stores that are there are begging for your business. I really hope it lasts but I don't know...
With gas prices the way they are I don't think Cary Towne will be going anywhere anytime soon unless the economy is just so bad that people aren't shopping at all.
I won't drive to Southpoint because it's just too far. Triangle Towne is too far. Crabtree isn't too bad, but I don't like dealing with the congestion over there.
So if I need a mall I drive to Cary Towne. Occasionally, we'll go to Southpointe or Crabtree, but I tend to stick close to home most of the time.
Cary Towne just opened a new kids play area. They are supposed to be remodeling the bathrooms also.
Two of my favorite stores are The Children's Place (which Crabtree no longer has. They pulled out of thre after the last flood and haven't returned) & Gymboree. I haven't noticed any stores closings.
I think it's fine. It's a small, older mall, but I think serves it's purpose well for those of us who don't want to drive 30-40 miles to go shopping. It's a lot easier to deal with CTC than the other huge malls and traffic/parking nightmares not to mention I live so close I can walk there. I go to Crabtree and occassionally Southpointe (rarely) for specialty shopping, but to me, the Cary mall is fine for what it is.
Oh? I used to take my kids there to do a round on the carousel, a trip on the train and a bounce on the Jumpin' Bean thing, but then they took away those last two items and it was no longer enough to make it an "event" for us. What's the new kids play area like?
It works for me. It's got a JC Penney, Sears, Macy's and Belk. What stores are y'all shopping at that Cary Towne doesn't have? If I had unlimited funds I'd probably make the special trip to Nordstom at Southpoint.
