My husband's work is based out of Charlotte but he travels constantly so we have the oppertunity to choose between several different places. We have two young children and schools are the most important thing. We are a young family that loves the outdoors and the arts. I would like to be near a college so I have a short commute and so I won't be fair from my boys during the day. Could anyone suggest some spots. I want to visit several areas in the weeks to come and any feed back would help me soooo much. We are moving from Macon Ga...I can't wait to get out of here!!!

Hmmmm....
Carrboro/Chapel Hill area is full of the arts, plus there's the Eno River for the nature people (I've never been so I can't provide more info). There's also Umstead Park in Raleigh thats really nice, Jordan Lake is close to all the cities. Raleigh is good too of course. Its pretty much the center of everything. Charlotte is about 3 hours away from Raleigh and its about an hour or so away from the mountains. The beach is about 2 hours away from Raleigh. Carowinds is located in Charlotte, thats always a plus for the kids. I think anywhere in the Triangle would be perfect. There is a school listing SOMEWHERE on the internet (I"m sure someone can direct you to it) that has the scores for the schools. Maybe find the ideal school and go from there? Honestly, you can't go wrong with anywhere you pick.

Trust me, I've lived here all my life!
Good luck!
Heather

Almost everything is drivable distance in Wake county. All the jobs are spreaded b/n RTP and Raliegh cities. If you are looking to move, I would suggest to move so that you can have access to both locations for work. Preferences in the order Apex, Cary look on the map.
