"A" decade? Where do you live that it was under a buck in the last 10 years - Nepal? I haven't seen it that cheap in more like 2 or 3 decades.

In St. Louis, where I lived from 1998-2001, it was under $1 here and there during that time. I remember clearly one day going to get gas and it was $.69 per gallon; I can't remember if that was a special promotion or something, but I'm pretty certain it was legitimately under $1 per gallon for a time.

Yep, during fall of '98 through late winter '99 the national average was around a dollar, plus or minus.

U.S. Retail Gasoline Historical Prices for weekly averages going back to the early 90s.

Lowest I recall paying was .87 in a LA suburb in 98.

These are the days when I would go to Vegas for a night and turn around the next morning and drive home - round trip gas cost....around 25 bucks.

Last summer the round trip cost was more like 130 bucks.

It was 90 cents for awhile in 99. I remember because I was in college and the difference between 90 cent gas and $1.10 gas was a big deal.

Will gas fall below $1 a gallon? :: WRAL.com
$1.32?

it's still around $1.80 in Charlotte, and it's been dropping very slowy.

But hey, I like that it's under $2.00

When I first started driving gas was $0.75/gallon, and that was this decade! $10 to fill up, memories....

Truly the most humorous thread in quite some time. Shakespeares, the lot of you!

Bilirubin, your reminiscent humor is matched in quality only by your unusual choice of screen names.

I say we all go crazy and drive like we're on the Autobahn... this is sure to be a limited-time-only reprieve.
