Hi all.

I'm a 32 year old working and living in NYC all my life. Investigating a possible relocation from NYC, would work at my same company as they have a Raleigh office.

My fiancee and I are looking for either an apartment complex or starter home to relocate. Someplace with some sense of community.

Thanks in advance.

What part of Raleigh would you be working in? North Raleigh or maybe downtown? Or are you going to be woring in the Research Triangle Park?

If you can provide some more details on your housing needs like price range, size, ammentities, ect I'm sure you will get some good suggestions here. Good Luck!

Office is on Westchase Blvd., near I-40 near NCSU.

Right now we have just the two of us. I can swing a home for $300K or, if renting can deal with an apt. for about S1500 per month.

You definitely have a lot of options with an office in that area.........when I worked at NC State, I had many colleagues who lived in garner, I lived in apex, but it is also close to "north raleigh", but the section that is in and around glenwood ave, brier creek area may also be an option.

Now, of course is a very good time to buy, but at the same time it is a challenge to come to an area and decide what your best fit is without knowing anything about it! Coming to visit may help!!!

The difficulty is that people seem to like town they live in the most! I live in wake forest, and really love it. But you will find the same of people in garner, holly springs, raleigh, cary, apex, etc etc.

Good luck!

Leigh

Thanks Leigh. I am planning on coming down and having a 'fact-finding' mission. I'm also heading to the Northern suburbs of Atlanta (Cobb) and North and Northwestern suburbs of Chicago...

My fiancee really wants to move to Chicagoland but I want a real change from NYC.

Well, the triangle is a far cry from those cities as far as nightlife (in my opinion). I have a number of friends in the Atlanta area and they are in all different times in their lives (single, married with kids, married without, etc) and there seems to be a lot for the singles or married without kids to do as far as going out, etc. I think they ALL complain about the traffic. My cousin lived in chicago for years, he loved it but hated the weather and moved to san diego (he was originally from calgary) because he just prefers warm weather.

This area certainly does have a much more temperate climate than chicago, and probably is similar to atlanta. Hopefully your visits will shed more light on the situation for you both.
