Being new in the area, I am curious to learn of any recommendations for St. Patrick's Day, and specifically, the details of the parade mentioned in an article in today's newspaper. If anyone knows, please share the info as I am looking forward to a wee bit of celebrating this weekend!

Much obliged--and the luck of the Irish to all who share any info

Raleigh's St. Patrick's Parade along Fayetteville & Blount Streets, and the following festival in Moore Square, is a real treat. One of the best day-long outdoor events in the area, IMO. Music, dancing, drinking, food, crafts, etc....they usually have something for everyone. And the parade is definitely very inclusive...not just Irish groups but anyone who wants to join. There's usually a German band, some Scandinavian "Vikings", the Rennaissance Faire Group, Scottish bagpipes, and so forth.
The nearby Exploris Museum usually has some Irish-related events that day, too. And the NC Museum of Science will be "green" with Reptile/Amphibian Day.

Check the parade & festival out at www.raleighstpats.org to see the events and times.

Just found out they're having the "Green Berets" parachute down into Moore Square after the parade again this year. That was a hoot last time...I felt bad for the one who landed in a holly tree.
