Had lunch today at The Burger Hut on West Morgan street. Really good, hamburger. They serve breakfast as well. A hole in the wall that isn't much to look at. Been around a long time. Cheap prices as well.

Adding it to my list of places to check out as we speak. While on the topic of downtown food, how are the hot dogs at The Roast Grill - Hot Weiners ?

Both places are great. Roast Grill serves ONLY hot dogs and drinks (no fries or anything like that). They have no ketchup, so you can stop by Snoopy's and get a few packets like I do before you go. Roast Grill is probably the best hot dog I have ever eaten. Place is tiny and only a few seats, but people move in and out pretty quick. Owners are very nice. Give it a go!

I love the Roast Grill. No ketchup allowed. They have been serving hotdogs since 1940 I believe. Have you eaten at The Mecca? Try Jerry's Grill on Whitaker Mill one morning and order the Hobo. They have a great collection of old Raleigh photos on the walls. Right up your alley.

Is mustard sacrilege as well?

What is considered apprpriate attire for a hot dog? I haven't eaten one in.... years so I'm woefully ignorant.

I've eaten at all those places Been a few years since I've been to the Burger Hut, but at one time they had the best shakes in Raleigh.

I started eating hot dogs at the Roast Grill when Mrs. Charles ran it all my herself...well her daughter would sometimes check in at lunch if things inside got too crazy

Mrs. Charles would roll over in her grave if she knew her grandson was now serving ketchup at her Roast Grill. It's a tradition
