I would have to say that pronoucing it foo-quay, although maybe easier for some, is incorrect and probably offensive to the natives that live there! People who are from the area, and who have lived there forever probably wouldn't be too happy with all of the "outsiders" moving in and calling it the wrong name.
Most people who are from here just call it fuquay (few-quay) and end it at that.

I guess that's my question though.... Do natives get offended when their town is pronounced as foo-quay? Or do they just accept the fact that their town's name is spelled wrong, and people will pronounce it like it's spelled

Hardly anyone pronounces my last name correctly. I finally just gave up and decided that it has multiple correct pronunciations. I wonder if you can do that on a town level.
