Husband is a biologist and is looking for a position in research. He was let go from his job in QC today, so we're trying to revamp his resume. We've been interested in the Triangle for years, and with all the scientific companies down there, it's always seemed like a good place for him to look. (Obviously, I know that right now, it's tough everywhere, but we're going to HAVE to move for a job, whether in our state- Illinois- or out, because his former workplace was the only one in our area where he could work with his degree. I lived in Raleigh very briefly a few years back and absolutely fell in love with the area.)

What I'm wondering is, is there anyone with a scientific specialization that would be willing to look at my husband's resume and let us know how it looks, if there's anything that would help him appear more hireable, if there's anything wrong with it, etc. I would really, really appreciate it. He's been looking for something different for a while, but no bites, so that's why we wonder what we're doing wrong.

Thank you, and good luck to everyone who is searching out there.

This is definately a good idea to do, but I will let you know that a lot of pharma and other science based companies down here are laying off or in a freeze, so it may not just be his resume. There just are not that many jobs. I know my husbands company just laid off a bunch of people.

If your husband is not on LinkedIn, he should be. Look for groups in Raleigh, such as "Linking Raleigh" for networking and career guidance opportunities.
