We just started looking at homes in North Raleigh. I was wondering how long it would take to commute from the Bedford at Falls River community to RTP if I was to leave at around 7 am in the morning and then the return commute at around 5:30 pm.

Thanks in advance.

20-25 minutes. 540 the whole way to 40 and depending on where you get off, it's pretty easy.

You left out the part about waiting the 10-20 min of waiting in traffic on Falls of the Neuse to get to 540 in the morning and coming home at night.

I would anticipate on average a 35-45 minute commute to RTP from Bedford during normal rush hour times.

Here is a Google Maps link showing the travel time from a randomly selected point in Bedford to a randomly selected point in RTP.

Google Maps estimate is 27 minute so 40 minutes during rush hour seems reasonable if there are delays on Falls of Neuse or on 540 near Glenwood or I-40.

How bad is traffic at 7am? I am usually still in bed.

Aren't there usually delays on eastbound 540 all the way to Leesville Road during the PM rush hour? This might be an issue at 5:30.

Sorry I was just looking t the 7:00 in the morning. In my opinion you'll make better time in the morning for sure. Also 15 minutes one way or the other will make a huge difference. My ex husband went to RTP every morning at 7am, but came home between 4-4:30 and traffic was always fine.

We're in Bedford and my husband commutes to Cisco and it takes him 20-25 minutes in the morning and 25-35 minutes returning.
