Hi, Does anyone know a good company to come survey my yard? We are putting up a playset and need to know where our yard ends.. If you have info on pricing that would be GREAT too! Thank you so much!

It would really help if you told us where you live.

Good folks.

Skip the survey unless you are building a permanent structure. If you put a playground over the property line, chances are nobody will ever know. If someone does notice and makes a big deal out of it, they would need a survey to prove it. If this happens, hire someone to move it. It would probably cost less to move the playground than it would to get a survey.

In order to make a playground safe, you need at least 9 inches of mulch at least 6 feet around it. http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PUBS/Pg1.pdf
It is non-trivial to move all that.

For a surveyor, we like S D Puckett Land Surveyor Home

When you are getting a quote, be sure to make clear that you are really just looking to get one line marked. You aren't looking for a full survey.

I have yet to see a home playground with 9 inches of mulch 6 feet around. Maybe I live in a dangerous neighborhood. How will my kids ever make it to their teens?

Assuming you own your home, you should have received a land survey map that tells you where the property lines are, or at least provides a general idea.

There should be metal pipes or iron stakes in the ground usually marked with pink ribbon depending on how long ago the last survey was done. All the surveyor will do is locate these stakes and verify their proper location.

Generally, a survey is not required and many homeowners pass on it.
