kingyouth: Fort Worth, TX is NOT a suburb of Dallas. It's a quite distinct city that is at least as old as Dallas. The two are 30 miles apart. Do you consider Durham a suburb of Raleigh? There are indeed suburbs all around Dallas and Fort Worth, respectively, such as Arlington, Grand Prairie, and Hurst-Bedford-Euless. But trust me, Fort Worth is not now and never has been a suburb of Dallas.

Lest I be misunderstood, I'm not a cheer leader for the Dallas-Ft Worth Metroplex (as the new media call it) -- in fact, I've no use for it at all, but I do know about it from experience!

  • The layout is better

  • The shopping is better
  • The diversity of thought is better
  • The landscaping is better
  • The town regulations are better
  • Taxes are far lower
  • Homes are more affordable
I am glad for you that you can be happy in Chapel Hill. I could never be, but we all have different likes and dislikes.
I didn't think you could come up with any solid reasons either.

I apologize. I was going by my recollections of that area. In another life, when I was about to graduate college with an education degree, I met a few recruits from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. That is how they described the area and they called Fort Worth a suburb of Dallas.

Wow, since they didn't know about their own area, I am quite happy I never got a job there.
