It appears to me and my contacts that the people getting IT work (Jobs, contracts, part-time, whatever) are usually connected somehow to someone who is in the organization; and that even includes Government and University situations. The $64 question is when will the IT situation here get better; if this is just going to go on for another year, then it wouldn't be too hard to weather that period; but if we are looking at 2-3 years, then weathering this "Triangle Tech Downturn" will not be so easy; and if that is going to be the case, it may make sense for IT people to go back and re-train for the "support" positions in the area where they are hurting for people, like in healthcare...
