We are having an open house next weekend and just finished getting floors cleaned after the last batch of people came in with mud. Does anyone know where you can get those protective booties that you sometimes see handed out to people when they enter the house?
Thanks

Or you could put a sign up by the front door on the porch that says "please remove your shoes when viewing the home"

It can be something as simple as printing it in a nice font and then framing the sign and putting it on a small table.

I cannot even FATHOM touring a home with my shoes on though! And if I knew it was wet and muddy out I'd have taken them off OUTSIDE on the steps/porch.

When I was selling my home, I had the carpets cleaned and the people who cleaned it left a bunch of booties for me to put by the front door(they knew I was selling). It was in a different state, so you can't use them, but maybe ask the company that cleaned your floors.

If I were interested in a house and the seller told me I have to take off my shoes just to look at it, I'd leave right then.

It wouldn't bother me at all. I have Asian friends and it is customary to remove ones shoes before entering their home. Also, it was required for viewing the Parade of Homes last fall.

I'm not selling my house but I don't like shoes on my rugs or floors. People know this about me, and I still have visitors, imagine that. The bottoms of shoes just totally gross me out.

I think it is a matter of hygiene as well. So you wear shoes outside, and then you are coming inside your house with the same shoes and walking through tracking dirt and what else you don't even want to know...
When my boys were young, we were very particular about people taking off their shoes when coming in beyond the foyer since they spent a lot of time crawling around on the carpet. Even now, we are always appreciative of people who take off their shoes.

Getting ready to put up our house for sale, and we have just put in new carpets, so I think the idea of getting booties for the house is a great idea. This way, I am not requiring people to take off their shoes, but they can just slip those booties on and protect the carpet.
