well if u move to raleigh u cant really go wrong. I moved to raleigh from NY 3 months ago and after a month i got a job. North Carolina is expanding more and more, and has a pretty good emplyoment rate. Maybey u guys need a change try it out, if worst comes u move back. When me and my husband and two small children moved here only my hubby had a job and i had no job. Yet, we have still made it thank God, due to its much more affordable living.
I would move just to avoid that commute, especially, as someone mentioned, with an infant at home.
I suggest you make a "rule," though, before you leave. Make an agreement that your wife and child (and you if you wanted to go) go back and visit her relatives at least once per year, if not twice, for at least four days, if not a week. That will alleviate her homesickness.
Also get unlimited long distance and set up web cameras at her relatives' homes and install "Skype" so she can show off the new baby and talk with them when she wants.
You can get a home in my neighborhood in your price range. My husband works for the state; he avoids the major roads, and it takes only 15 minutes to get there.
Keep lowering the price on your house, and it will sell.
Oh! Do NOT rent out your house. Bad idea. Very bad idea.
