I'm planning on moving to the Triangle in a few months. I'm single and vegan. What areas should I consider to live in? I only know that I don't want to live in the suburbs!

Thanks so much,
Dakini

Is your concern that you won't find Vegan options for dining, etc.? Or, are you also seeking a certain type of culture to go along with it? When people hear "vegan", I think many of them will automatically assume some sort of progressive social, cultural, environmental and political identity to go along with it. Other's may not.
I did a quick Google search and came up with these links. I hope they are helpful.

There are a few vegans on this forum, including me. There are vegan options nearly everywhere, but the options are better in Chapel Hill and near Duke.

If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to try to answer them. Here are two threads from a while back.

What constitutes a "vegan-friendly" place? Are there places where they run vegan's out of town with pitchforks and torches (perhaps roasting meat on them for for added emphasis)?

There are plenty of places that don't have many food options for vegans and vegetarians....and while probably stopping short of running them out of town on a BBQ spit, will look upon them with suspicion and make rude comments.

I can understand wanting to live in an area that has resturants they can use and people have at least heard the term.

If I could only find a gluten-free town.

That's a little harder! I have several friends that have gluten-free children....and they do have to get creative.

One woman has basically gone from barely being able to boil water to being a gourmet cook just show her two kids can eat!

Probably Chapel Hill/Carrboro for the atmosphere.
You can find vegan options at Whole Foods in South Cary or Raleigh too.
