Anyone local participating in the Whole Foods boycott? Very interesting timing here, with Trader Joe's set to open the new location in Raleigh.

No, and frankly, I think its a retarded idea to begin with.

For anyone that doesn't know, some people are upset that the President of Whole Foods doesn't believe in the healthcare reform as the Government is pushing it. Heaven for bid a man has an opinion anymore.

Is it about how he expressed it? Did he express it as just a man or as the president of Whole Foods? Just curious.

And for the record, I drive to Cary twice a month for TJ's over WF right up the street any day because the prices can't be beat.

The man is a CEO. He knows how the market works. He chose to nationally publish an opinion that he knew in advance would be wildly unpopular with his customers. It shouldn't come as a surprise that those consumers might choose to support another company.

I don't currently shop at Whole Foods but I'll gladly stop by and make a purchase if the CEO opposes socialized healthcare. Maybe I'll buy some granola bars and pass them out to the protesters. If they can't afford their own health insurance, they probably can't afford to eat either and we don't need them getting sick.

Most of the people that can afford to shop at Whole Foods...do have health insurance. Really...your posts is patronizing and frankly stupid.

Figuring out the health care crisis is not going to be easy....but each side trying to demonize the other isn't going to help.

Exactly. It's simplistic and obtuse to think that anyone who supports the healthcare bill can't afford to buy health insurance. I'm sure you'd feel it was ignorant if someone thought that everyone who opposes the healthcare bill is wealthy. But go ahead and hand out the granola bars; I'd appreciate it if I were picketing!
